Trading Standards Officer Permanent

Advert Based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual (permanent) within the Communities & Public Protection service. Reporting to the Trading Standards & Licensing Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of functions within the Trading Standards & Licensing Team, which contribute to both corporate and Community Planning objectives. As a qualified Trading Standards Officer, you will assist in the delivery of the full range of functions undertaken by the Team, including investigating consumer complaints, enforcement activities, issuing notices and reporting offences to the Procurator Fiscal as well as providing advice and guidance to members of the public, other Council departments and external agencies. You will have the opportunity to specialise in a subject area, engage in varied partnership working and represent the service on liaison groups, You will have knowledge of Trading Standards procedures and practices; the ability to interpret new legislation; effective reporting, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will have a diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent with an appropriate metrology module (to equivalent OIML D14) It is essential that you have a current driving licence. It is desirable you have relevant experience within an enforcement role and previous experience operating Civica APP software or similar database. You will be required to participate in the Regulatory Services out of hours standby service.
